OUTLOOK - Another open house event held at the Civic Centre in Outlook last week shed some light on upcoming projects going on around town as well as recreation options within the riverside community.
Held on Thursday night, April 18, a number of local groups and businesses were on display for visitors to gain more information, including the River and Rail ArtVenture, LCBI High School, Equinox Theatre, the Outlook Rudy Fireflies, the Town of Outlook, and the Outlook & District Regional Park.
Of particular interest to visitors were the displays by the Town, which included information on the ongoing water treatment plant upgrades, as well as improvements to the water and sewer systems of McKenzie Street and Saskatchewan Avenue.
What grabbed many eyes was the presence of four glass jars full of town water, which each carried the remnants of cleansing wipes, personal wipes, a feminine hygiene product, and toilet paper. Left to sit for 30 days, the display was done in order to show people what both does and doesn't break down in the town's sewer system, highlighting what everyday products are and aren't flushable.
As well, the town's recreation options were of particular interest. Megan Anthony, Director of Recreation and Community Development, showed off a number of events that are coming up, including a Paint n' Sip art night, a bird house painting workshop, online registration for the Kinsmen Park program, a business window art contest around town, and bowling times at the Jim Kook Rec Plex. In addition, a handy events guide for the months of May through August was available for visitors to take home, providing a glimpse at what's going on around Outlook for the next few months.
