OUTLOOK - The Outlook Rudy Fire Department was kept plenty busy on Friday, September 30, but it wasn't the flames of a fire they had to keep control of, it was the flames coming off the barbecue grill as the department hosted an open house event and a BBQ supper fundraiser at the fire hall.
The place was packed with people who came out to enjoy a burger, salads, cookies and cold drinks in support of the department's building fund for a new fire hall one day. The lineup for grub never seemed to let up, and people seemed to be quite giving in the donation box.
The grill was provided by Western Sales, while AG Foods took care of the burger supply. When attendees weren't sitting and enjoying their supper with a few friends and neighbours, they could also go out onto the street, where a number of fire trucks were on display. Kids got into the spirit very quickly, with a number of them climbing into the trucks and having their photos taken by family members.
Judging from the colossal turnout, the public is being told to keep an eye out for more fundraising events in the future.
