Community of Dinsmore holds grand opening for new fire hall

A large crowd was on hand to see the new fire hall in Dinsmore celebrated.

DINSMORE - The village of Dinsmore certainly had reason to celebrate on Sunday, June 25, as the community came together to ring in the grand opening of their new fire hall facility.

A very large turnout was on hand as people took in the interior of the new building, including a training area upstairs, but perhaps one of the biggest positives of the new home as far as the crew is concerned is all of the extra space they now have, including the ability to have all trucks and equipment housed under one roof.

Sharing a few words with the crowd in attendance were James Thorpe and Megan Keeler, who spoke on behalf of the fire crew. Crediting local RM's and the Village of Dinsmore for their support in this venture, everyone behind the scenes was said to be very happy with how the new hall has turned out.

"We're very happy with the results," said Troy Atkinson, touching on the step-by-step process that ultimately led to the new facility that stands today.

Other guests included Kelly Beattie, who shared good wishes on behalf of local ambulance services, as did Gerry Wiens on behalf of the Beechy Fire Department. The support of local groups was also noted, as it was highlighted that the Dinsmore Kinsmen Club donated approximately $40,000 to the new fire hall.

The Dinsmore fire crew officially moved in back on February 9, in time for what Keeler said was a busy series of calls. The relocation to a new facility came at just the right time.

"This is going to be a wonderful space for us," said Megan.

After the ceremonial ribbon was cut by Stewart Sawyer and the crew, everyone enjoyed a catered supper in the hall and continued to tour the new fire hall facilities.

The Dinsmore Fire and Rescue team is comprised of Brayden Atkinson, Chad Annala, Cory Beattie, Justin Dawe, Gregg Orban, Stan Mann, Trevor Rolleston, James Green, Jason Sawyer, John McBain, Nicole Keeler, Megan Keeler, Terry Orban, Brad Blumer, and Justin James.
