It has been an eventful couple weeks at the Yorkton Regional High School. On March 21, 6 students competed at the annual Robot Rumble in Saskatoon. The Robot Rumble is a robotics competition in which sumo bots attempt to push each other out of a circular ring, mimicking the actual goal of real life sumo wrestlers. In this competition teams of up to two people enter their sumobot, a 10x10x10cm robot weighing less than 500 grams. All three of the YRHS' teams did very well. The "Daffodil Painted Unicorns" (Gavin Trost and Austin Jennings-Plante) got second place and "2L2Q" (Mike Kozushka and Bo Chiasson) captured the bronze. Team "Dick and Jane" (Gabriel Thomson and Calem Kulscar) placed among the top ten teams.
On March 21 and 22 the senior basketball team went to Hoopla in Saskatoon. Hoopla is the provincial finals and only 4 teams can attend in the each division. The boys brought home the bronze in the Provincial 4A division. Good Job boys!
On March 28, the YRHS SRC hosted a teacher appreciation breakfast for the staff of the YRHS. From all of the students at the Yorkton Regional High School, thank you for teaching!
Upcoming events include a dessert theatre in the evening of March 14 at the YRHS. The two productions that are entered in the Drama Festival later that week will be performing. Posters will be up soon and tickets will also be available soon.
On Tuesday, April 16, from 6pm to 8pm the YRHS SRC is hosting a Zumbathon in support of breast cancer awareness. Tickets are available at the YRHS Main Office, Forever Fit, Melrose place and at the door. Tickets for kids 5 and up and $5.00 and adults are $10.00. Wear pink to get your name entered for a prize!
