Slightly more than a quarter of the 1,833 students expected to enroll in schools in the Eastland Lakes School Division were Kamsack students. At the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute, it was expected that 304 students would be attending classes from Grade 5 to Grade 12, while at Victoria School, 183 students were expected including nine in pre-Kindergarten and 31 in Kindergarten. An enrolment of 124 was expected at Fort Livingstone School in Pelly, which was a Kindergarten to Grade 12 facility.
Dwayne Reeve of the York School division was hired as the first chief executive officer and director of education of the East Central School Division that was to be formed on January 1 through the amalgamation of Eastland Lakes, York, Potashville, Melville-Deer Park and Melville Comprehensive school divisions.
Nashville-based recording artist, Billie Joyce, better known in Kamsack as Billie J. Helmkay, returned to her home community at the beginning of August to help celebrate the centennial of Kamsack and Saskatchewan and performed during the program at the Kamplex.
All but two of a nine-member Pelly little league baseball team reunited during the Pelly centennial celebration. Attending were: Garry Wright, Terry Golding, Orville Osadchuk, Don Boyd, Larry Barabonoff, Don Henderson and Ron Chickmoroff.
