As a welcoming gesture to visitors, members of the Kamsack centennial celebrations committee tied yellow ribbons around trees lining the community’s more prominent streets and avenues and encouraged residents to make similar ribbons to decorate additional trees on their property.
Peter Cherkas and John Moriarty of Kamsack took a refl ecting road sign to the site of the former Crowstand Mission, which is property now belonging to Cherkas. That was one of nearly 20 signs, readable from both directions, which the RM had purchased as its centennial project.
Phil Esposito, an NHL legend, helped make the 10th annual celebrity golf tournament in Kamsack an enjoyable and resounding success. Also attending were hockey and Olympic gold medallist and NHL player Theoren Fleury, former NHL player Jeff Odgers, curling great Gerald Shymko and Kamsack’s own NHL’er Darcy Hordichuk.
A concert for the reunion of The Fendermen was being advertised as part of the entertainment line-up for Kamsack’s centennial celebration.
Heidi Maunula, Jaakob Maunula and Damon Harrington were named grand aggregate winners in their respective age categories at the Kamsack 4-H Club annual achievement day.
Billie Joyce, better known in Kamsack as Billie J. Helmkay, was among the entertainers to be featured at the Kamsack centennial celebration August 5 and 6.
