The last few weeks have been busy ones in the land of orange. The junior and senior football teams finished their seasons. The Senior Raiders finished second in their first year in the Moose Jaw High School Football League, capping off an excellent season where they were 5-1 in regular season action. Dalton Fichtner won league MVP and Layne Hull was named the defensive player of the league. Meanwhile the Junior Raiders finished second in the Regina Minor Football League putting an end to a great season. The football banquet will be November 17 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall. Everyone is invited; tickets can be purchased from Mr. Wayne Clark at the Yorkton Regional High School or at Yorkdale Central School.
On Halloween, students decided to participate in the "We Scare Hunger" campaign and trick or treat for a good cause. They trick or treated for non perishable food items while also raising awareness about local hunger. The students gathered between 300 and 400 items that ranged from canned goods to noodles. These items were then donated to the Salvation Army.
The YRHS is once again participating in Movember. Staff and students are growing out their facial hair in support of men's health. All of the money that is collected will be donated to cancer research.
YRHS students Bo Chiasson and Jayden Leister left on November 10 to compete in the robotics portion of the World Skills America competition in Brazil. The land of orange wishes them the best of luck.
