Dear Editor:
You pay for the operations of the CWB. You run it through your elected directors. You should decide its future.
By law, the federal government is supposed to run a plebiscite on the monumental change it's planning to make to your marketing organization. The government has steadfastly refused. Your board of directors has decided to act where the government will not. MNP, the same independent company that handles CWB director elections, has been contracted to administer a Prairie-wide plebiscite on the CWB's future.
If you had an active permit book in 2009-10 or 2010-11 and have delivered wheat or barley in the past five crop years, you will receive a ballot in the mail. Other producers who have grown wheat or barley in the past five years can apply for a ballot. Download an application to vote from www.cwbvote.ca or phone 1-877-780-VOTE (8683).
Let your voice be heard. Whatever your opinion about the single desk for wheat and barley, make sure you have your say.
Kyle Korneychuk
CWB Director, District 7
