Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires go to shoot-out

The two teams hook-up again Saturday (Oct. 14) in Melville.

It took a shoot-out Oct. 13 to decide a winner at the Westland Insurance Arena.

YORKTON - The Highway #10 rivalry has reignited for another SJHL season.

The Yorkton Terriers hosted game one of the season match-up Friday at the Westland Insurance Arena.

The visiting Melville Millionaires started the scoring as Jadon Iyogun scored an unassisted goal at 13:48 as the only marker of the first period.

It took only 2:22 into period two for Cade Kennedy to tie the game.

Liam Cox-Smith gave the Mills a 2-1 lead with an unassisted effort at 6:22.

With time on the 20:00 mark Clay Sleeva was credited with a goal to knot the game 2-2 after 40-minutes of play.

The Mills edged ahead again in the third period as Kole Keen scored a short-handed effort at 5:09.

It did not take long before the Terriers responded as Aiden Knutson scored at 6:45.

The teams stayed deadlocked at 3-3 for the remainder of regulation time, and then through five-minutes of overtime action.

Finally in the shoot-out the Millionaires emerged as 4-3 winners.

William Dyke was in net for Melville facing 26-shots for the win.

Caleb Allen guarded the Terrier twine. He faced 27-shots in the loss.

The two teams hook-up again Saturday in Melville.
