Win and Loss Weekend for Ice Hawks

Team kicked off SVHL season November 3 & 4

Last weekend was something of a ‘win some, lose some’ scenario for the Outlook Ice Hawks.

The team motored to Loreburn on Friday night, November 3 to kick off their SVHL season, and hockey fans were treated to an exciting back and forth affair between the neighbouring rosters, which saw the Hawks eventually take a two-goal lead.

When all was said and done, Outlook was able to leave the ice victorious, defeating the 19ers at a score of 7-5.

Goals scored by Loreburn were made by #17 Austin Bristow, #23 George Dodds, #9 Gil Martens, #21 Cody Schwan, and #77 Brent Stamnes.  Goals scored by Outlook were made by #21 Colby Daniels (2), #8 Adam Zbitniff (2), #25 Shay Stephenson (2), and #43 Daniel Erlandson.

However, the Hawks were unable to carry that momentum to another win in their home opener the next night at the Jim Kook Rec Plex.

Playing host to the Kyle Elks, a solid crowd enjoyed the game in which both teams fought tooth and nail for control of the puck and dominance on the scoreboard.  That’s something of an understatement as this game featured a few instances in which players needed to be separated and more than a few crunches into the boards.

The action was back and forth until a few minutes into the third period, when the Elks took a lead on the scoreboard.  Not to be deterred, Outlook managed to sink the puck into the net to make sure they weren’t far behind in the numbers when the buzzer sounded.

In the end, Kyle left the winners at a score of 5-4.

Goals scored by the Elks were made by #41 Jesse Shynkaruk (3), #20 Nelson Schneider, and #61 Brennan Bosovich.  Goals scored by Outlook were made by #9 Blake Taylor, #21 Colby Daniels, #25 Shay Stephenson, and #93 Beau Stewart.

The Ice Hawks are back at it this week as they play host to the Delisle Bruins this Friday night at 8:00.
