Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton was the site of the 5th Annual Dollars for Scholars golf tournament, a fundraiser used to support students attending Parkland College on Scholarships.The one-day tournament had originally been scheduled to play on June 18, however, due to poor weather conditions in the area the night before, the club was forced into making a scheduling change.
"They've been wonderful," said Vanora Isaac, marketing co-ordinator with Parkland College of the scheduling change made by the golf course.
The day featured 95+ competitors ranging in skill and the turnout was really good, she added.The Tournament format was Texas Scramble. The Parkland College awarded 11 scholarships at last year's Dollars for Scholars and Isaac said they were hoping for about 20 this time out, but also added that the tournament is also about people of any skill level coming out and having a good time, and keeping it going for years to come.
"The main thing is people having a good time. I hope to have this going a long time."
Team entered into the tournament came to Yorkton from as far away as Regina and Saskatoon and Moose Jaw.
Part of the fun on the day included a hole-in-one prize on hole 14, a $5000 voucher for a trip for two to Italy.
