Mixed and kids’ fun bonspiels held at Sturgis

The Sturgis Curling Club hosted two separate fun bonspiels, a mixed and a kids’ bonspiel from February 13 to 17. There were 10 rinks entered in the mixed event and 11 rinks entered in the kids’ competition.

            The Sturgis Curling Club hosted two separate fun bonspiels, a mixed and a kids’ bonspiel from February 13 to 17. There were 10 rinks entered in the mixed event and 11 rinks entered in the kids’ competition.

            “Both bonspiels were held in conjunction with one another and we never kept score,” said Kirsten Peterson, representative. “The bonspiels were for fun and to get the kids out there having fun and learning the sport of curling.”

            Entered in the kids bonspiel were rinks skipped by Wilien Paligan, Daniell Mirva, Hunter Mirva, Shae Peterson, Teah Reynolds, Trever Geistlinger, Skylar Ryczak, Kylie Babiuk, Mason Babiuk, Bracyn Konkel and Bailey Peterson.

            In the mixed bonspiel there were 10 rinks entered. They were skipped by Terry Mang, Conrad Peterson, Keith Babiuk, Rebel Reynolds, Tyler Blender, Cory Babiuk, Andrea Tonn, Blaine Medlang, Bo Babiuk and Amanda Masley.

            The next bonspiel in the community will be a seniors’ bonspiel scheduled for February 27 to March 1. The Matt’s bonspiel will be the final bonspiel of the season in Sturgis and will be held March 7 to 12.
