Gene Klebeck started playing field lacrosse in Saskatoon during his university years and continues to enjoy the competitive nature of the sport.

When he first started to play lacrosse, his team, the Trojans, had participated in the national tournament in Toronto. Klebeck says 鈥渉e was bitten by the lacrosse bug鈥 and has continued to play the very physical sport during his adult life. Klebeck says he enjoys the speed of the game, and its technical nature. He lives in Preeceville but works in Alberta.

鈥淕ene has picked up the sport again, and now plays in an Alberta league,鈥 said his wife Sheila Klebeck. 鈥淗e is known for his work in the defensive position, but he also can be transitional. Five years ago, Gene played for Calgary 鈥 s Fighting Irish, and brought home two silver, and one gold medal. Recently, the Irish merged with Okatoks and Airdre, and became known as the Airdre Mohawks.

听On August 7, the Mohawks traveled to Armstrong, B.C. to compete in the national tournament. The team played Prince George, Ladner, Port Moody, and Victoria. It came out in 铿 fth place out of 10 teams, and was only one goal away from making it to the top four.
