HF Charity Road Race breaks the $41,000 mark

The Health Foundation's 4th Annual Charity Road Race was a huge success, raising a record $41, 500 for operating room equipment.

The Health Foundation's 4th Annual Charity Road Race was a huge success, raising a record $41, 500 for operating room equipment.

There were 224 registered participants for the 2010 Charity Road Race, which was a jump over the 169 participants from last year, says Ross Fisher, executive director of the Health Foundation.

He added that he's really pleased with the growth of the event.

This was the first time the race included a corporate relay as part of the road race and it was a great addition, comments Fisher. The relay was a 10km race with each member of the team running a 2.5 km leg. There were seven teams in the relay and they included: two teams from Crestvue Ambulance, two teams from the RCMP, Louck's Pharmacy had a team, TA Foods had a team and Yorkton City Council had a team.

Winners in each category are listed by name, finish and time. They include: Junior 3km: Sarah Walker, first place, 16:38; Grace Malinowski, second place, second place, 16:51; Sadie McGriskin, third place, 18:53.

In the female 10km overall placing: Danielle Thiel, first place, 41:43, Nicole Mitchelson, second place, 42:22; Christina Baller, third place, 42:28.

Age category winners for female 10 km: Danielle Thiel, 19 and under, 41:43; Nicole Mitchelson, 20-29, 42:22; Tracy Newton, 30-39, 49:52; Shelley Westberg, 40-49, 54:07; Naomi Barnhart, 50-59, 49:49; Judy Warick, 60 and over, 55:58.

In the male 10km overall placing: Matthew Johnson, first place, 34:55; Ted Jaleta, second place, 34:56; Marc Beaton, third place, 35:38.

Female 5km overall placing. Barbara Mysko, first place, 20:37; Melissa Petersen, second place, 22:03; Rita Fetsch, third place, 22:45.
