SASKATOON — The court case for a woman involved in a collision that killed a nine-year-old Saskatoon girl on a scooter last year has been adjourned to June 16.
Taylor Ashley Kennedy, 28, was charged in March following toxicology results showing she was driving under the influence of THC, an active ingredient in marijuana. She was charged with impaired driving while exceeding the prescribed blood-drug concentration of THC causing death under Canada’s Criminal Code.
Kennedy was driving a pickup truck when she hit the victim, who was using a crosswalk on 33rd Street West in the Mayfair neighbourhood on Sept. 9, 2021.
Early this year, surveillance footage of the incident circulated on social media where it showed the nine-year-old girl stopping to see if there were approaching vehicles before crossing the street.
The pickup, driven by Kennedy, was then seen hitting the girl who was thrown a few meters away from the crosswalk.
