WARMAN — RCMP say the investigation into the traffic death of a Warman woman April 9 has shown the vehicle that caused the fatality was on the wrong side of the road.
The investigation is complex and ongoing, say RCMP. No charges have been laid and no further details are being provided at this time.
On April 9 at approximately 9:45 p.m., a Warman RCMP officer observed a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV driving erratically on Highway 12.
The officer engaged emergency lights to stop the SUV, which kept driving at a high rate of speed. The officer lost sight of the SUV and continued to drive in the direction it headed.
The officer then located the SUV, which had collided with another vehicle, a northbound Toyota SUV. The Jeep was driving on the wrong side of the highway when the collision occurred.
The driver of the Toyota, a 30-year-old pregnant woman from Warman, was declared deceased at the scene. Her passenger was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Their identity is still under investigation and RCMP do not have an update on their condition.
Warman RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
