UCC Saskatchewan welcomes “Ambulances” for Ukraine project

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Saskatchewan Provincial Council, welcomed the announcement made on August 21 by MD Ambulance that four ambulances from Canada are due to arrive in Kyiv, Ukraine sometimes next week.

The equipment will be sent to hospitals and used in treating those wounded in the armed con? ict with Russiabacked separatists in eastern Ukraine.

“Saskatchewanians, individuals, volunteers, professionals, businessmen and politicians, alike continue to demonstrate their support for the people of Ukraine by providing much needed humanitarian aid and other forms of assistance,” said Mary Ann Trischuk, UCC Saskatchewan president.

“UCC Saskatchewan was pleased to be able to participate in this important initiative with the Battlefords Ukrainian Cultural Council, UCC Canora, UCC Regina, UCC Saskatoon and UCC Yorkton. Altogether, $7,500 will be donated.

Under the leadership of MD Ambulance’s past president and CEO Dave Dutchak, the humanitarian project “Ambulance for Ukraine” was made possible by devoted efforts and many volunteers over the last 18 months. UCC Saskatchewan congratulates these dedicated individuals and participating provincial national organizations on the realization of Phase One of the project.

MD Ambulance was established by Dutchak’s late father, Mike Dutchak, who was a recipient of UCC Saskatchewan’s Community Recognition award for Creativity and Innovation and Leadership in 2009.

UCC Saskatchewan is an inclusive, self sustaining, vibrant organization that serves the Saskatchewan Ukrainian community to maintain, develop and share its Ukrainian Canadian identify, culture and aspirations, said a release.
