Town of Sturgis residents voice strong opinions in election

STURGIS - The Town of Sturgis held their municipal election on Nov. 13 at the Town of Sturgis Community Hall with 328 ballots cast for the mayor and six councillors, stated Shawna Johnson, administrator.

Dean Harris was the favourite as he received 199 votes opposed to his opponent Randy Sommerville who received 112 votes.

Voted into council was one returning councillor Perry Keller who received 190 votes followed by new members, Michael Yaremchuk who received 239 votes, Carol Smith who received 207 votes, Tecia Fincaryk who received 205 votes, Nathan Seghers who received 195 votes and Jeff Chupik received 150 votes.

Other candidates were, Jacquie Christopherson with 66 votes, Kim MacLeod with 111 votes, Chad Rose with 108 votes, Mark Nickel with 52 votes and Daniel Wasylenchuk with 118 votes
