Columbarium rates, the Handi-Bus policy and a staff retirement supper were among items to concern town council at its regular meeting of October 10.
           Council accepted a recommendation of the cemetery committee to raise the columbarium niche resident rate from $900 to $1,000 plus GST and that the non-resident rate be set to $1,300 plus GST.
           It was agreed to allow only engraving on niche covers and specified that columbarium niche covers should maintain a uniform manner and only engravings be allowed, no plaques.
           Council approved a recommendation of the Handi-Bus committee to restrict use of the Handi-Bus to town residents and visitors with mobility challenges.
           The administration was instructed to arrange a retirement supper to be held March 10 to recognize employees and firefighters who have retired over the past year.
           An update on the Kamsack volunteer Fire Department executive meeting was presented by Councillor Jason Pennell and council agreed that its administration would co-ordinate with the fire department to transfer ownership of the quad trailer to the town.
           A request from Gerald Chubey to construct a fence on vacant property at 227 Wall Street on condition the front of the fence does not extend beyond the front of the neighbour’s house.
