In Spirit Singer Roxy Ross and guitarist/husband Geordie Ross perform a stirring rendition of 鈥淕o Light Your Candle鈥� during Yorkton鈥檚 Sisters in Spirit vigil at City Centre Park October 4. Despite rainy conditions, the RCMP said nearly 50 people showed up to march up Broadway Street from the Yorkton Public Library to the park where speeches were made, poems were read and songs were sung in memory of more than 1,000 missing and murdered aboriginal women. Judy Hughes, president of the Saskatchewan Aboriginal Women鈥檚 Circle and an organizer of the event was thrilled with the turnout. Every October 4, thousands of similar vigils are held all across Canada and in many other countries around the world.Thom Barker
