The Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer was started in 1998 when a young boy from Yorkton, SK was diagnosed with cancer before his fourth birthday. The idea was to create a fundraiser in support of research into cancer affecting youth, and as a way to raise awareness. Now in its 18th year the event raised $30,450 for cancer research through the Canadian Cancer Society with the official cutting taking place at the Parkland Mall in the city Saturday, with 32 registered participants.
