On the morning of January 20, the driver of a lift being used in the construction of a new retirement residence on Morrison Drive got entangled in the power lines. Nobody was injured. The driver was checked out by EMS and released at the scene. Saskpower shut down the power in the surrounding neighbourhood and residents were without power for approximately one hour. Police and firefighters diverted traffic 45 minutes while SaskPower and the contractor disentangled the equipment from the lines. People in other parts of Yorkton including downtown experienced a brief power outage as well. An Occupational Health and Safety investigation is being conducted.Fire Protective Services
