Tentative events unveiled for Canada 150 celebration at Preeceville

Friday, August 4 will kick off events with a meet-and-greet registration at the Preeceville Legion Hall, followed by an art show, the serving of barbecued hamburgers, sponsored by the Assiniboine Beef and Multi 4-H Club and beer gardens and the day will conclude with a firework show. All events on Friday will be held at the Preeceville Legion Hall.

Saturday will begin with a pancake breakfast at the Preeceville Club 60, followed by a registration and parade with a starting point at the Preeceville Skating Arena. The 606 Harvard Air Cadets will host a barbecue at Centennial Park at lunch.

The afternoon activities will surround the Preeceville and District Heritage Museum. There will be a homemade pie, coffee and horseshoe tournament held at the Preeceville Club 60. The churches in the town and the Preeceville School will welcome visitors.

A heavy horse pull demonstration is scheduled to take place at the corn maze at the edge of the town limits. A supper with two seatings will be held at the Preeceville Ukrainian Catholic Hall. The suppers are only available through advance tickets.

A street dance will conclude the evening with dancers outside the Legion Hall. The dance will be sponsored by the Preeceville Volunteer Fire Department.

Sunday will feature an interdenominational church service, a lunch sponsored by Canada 150 committee and the churches, and a threshing demonstration by Vern Proznyak.

Other events will include ball games, music and children鈥檚 activities. All events on Sunday will take place at the Preeceville Sportsgrounds.

Tickets for the supper and dance will go on sale June 1 at the town office. Parade registration forms are available at town office.
