After finding a clump of willow trees growing by a slough near Duck Mountain Provincial Park last week, cousins Jimmy Tao and Kevin Luu of Kamsack discovered its many soft, fuzzy buds, that the tree produces in order to protect its developing leaves from the early spring cold. The buds, commonly known as pussywillows, are among the first signs of new growth following the dormancy of winter.
