聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽The women of the Preeceville St. John Lutheran Church continued addressing the challenge of making a difference in the world. Members organized a sewing bee that created 70 quilts that will comfort the less fortunate in a time of need.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e meet every week in the basement of the church to stitch together quilts,鈥 said Deb Myhr. 鈥淓ach quilt is stitched with a little bit of hope and a lot of love. We created 70 quilts this year with all quilts shipped to the Canadian World Lutheran Relief. The organization is responsible for sending them to the areas overseas that require them.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Lutheran women create the quilts utilizing old clothes, curtains, donated fabric and old blankets.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲hen you make and send a quilt, you are not only comforting someone you have never met, but provide an object that is useful in ways you probably never imagined. The ultimate purpose of a quilt is to provide warmth, an essential need for people in every climate,鈥 said Myhr.
