聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Pre-K students and students from the Canora Junior Elementary School participated in a snowshoe festival last week, courtesy of the CAP/CPR program.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sara Kozmanuik, youth liaison worker with the Canora Action Plan and Crossroads Project Reconnect, organized the annual festival.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 With snowshoes lent by CJES and 鈥渃lompers鈥� on loan from the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, Kozmanuik started the festival by leading the Pre-K students on a short trek around their school.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the days following, she had the students gather at the Activity Centre and use snowshoes to walk around the golf course.
鈥淲e had a friendly competition between grades to see how far each class could go,鈥� said Kozmanuik.
Students from Kindergarten and Grade 1 received prizes based on their enthusiasm and co-operation skills, Kozmanuik explained. Students from the other classes received prizes based on their times and distances.
鈥淎ll the classes went quite far and were very close with their times and distances,鈥� said Kozmanuik.
鈥淎ll the CJES students did a wonderful job and the parents and teachers were very helpful,鈥� she said.
Each session concluded with a healthy snack.聽
