The SIGN Kamsack Family Resource Centre remains open for families in need

For parents and caregivers of children prenatal to age five, the Kamsack Family Resource Centre (FRC) located at 241- 2nd Street in Kamsack, is currently open with restrictions and full COVID-19 protocols in place.

鈥淚t cannot be easy for families at this time,鈥 commented Early Years Facilitator, Andrea Verigin. 鈥淚t鈥檚 tough to be stuck at home, but we continue to encourage everyone to keep ourselves and our families safe.鈥

The Society for Involvement of Good Neighbours (SIGN) Kamsack FRC has served as a gathering place for Kamsack and area families for over five years now. The centre is operated through SIGN with a partnership agreement with Saskatchewan Health Authority and links local area residents to a variety of community, regional, and provincial resources.

COVID-19 has resulted in a number of changes in how the facility is run, but the SIGN Kamsack Family Resource Centre strives to service the community in getting through the pandemic challenges.

鈥淔or those families in need, we do remain open. With safety for all as our top priority, all visitors must call in advance to book an appointment鈥 said Verigin.

Although families across the country are staying home over the holiday season, Kamsack and area families are invited to visit the Kamsack FRC Facebook page [@KamsackFamilyResource] to tap into a steady flow of parenting tips, activity ideas, inspirational quotes, and videos.

鈥淲e鈥檝e posted some videos of Hollywood celebrities reading children鈥檚 stories. Those were very popular,鈥 said Verigin. 鈥淲hen it is difficult to get out, we are happy to have at least some level of connection online.鈥

For families who are having a hard time and think they may need advice or assistance, a phone call into the centre is an excellent first step. The number for the Family Resource Centre is (306) 542-1010 with typical hours of operation between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, although hours are subject to change.
