SASKATOON — A fire that originated in the basement cost an estimated $20,000 in damages to a structure in the 400 block of Avenue L North.
The Saskatoon Fire Department received the call at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday night and immediately dispatched three fire engines, one ladder unit, a rescue truck and the Battalion Chief.
The first arriving engine saw flames and smoke coming out of the structure and tactical duties were assigned as other fire crews arrive. The fire investigator was also requested to be on the scene.
An interior fire crew was assigned to enter and extinguish the fire in the basement after it was identified that the fire originated from there. Fire crews knocked down the fire at 5:16 p.m. and the fire investigator arrived at 5:46 p.m.
The fire investigator, after the scene examination, has not yet determined the cause of the fire that originated in the basement bedroom.
