SASKATOON - A semi truck driver and white B-train Freightliner that Dawson Creek, British Columbia RCMP were searching for have been located 1,100 kilometres away by Saskatoon Police.
Saskatoon Police told SASKTODAY that around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 they received a call for service to a compound located near 70th Street East and Millar Avenue. The caller believed they had located a semi-trailer unit being sought by the BC RCMP in connection to a fatal collision in that province.
"Consultation with the BC RCMP led us to seizing the vehicle of interest to a secure facility for continued investigation," said Joshua Grella, Coordinator, Public Relations & Strategic Communications for Saskatoon Police.
BC RCMP say that the semi has been seized and towed to a secure facility for further investigation. BC RCMP say it was possibly involved in a motor vehicle incident in Dawson Creek on Dec. 15 on Highway 2 near the Dawson Creek Airport. BC RCMP say that on Dec. 15 at 5:42 p.m., Dawson Creek RCMP received a call of a head-on motor vehicle collision on Highway 2. Officers attended and located a GMC pickup truck extensively damaged. A male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Dec. 17, Dawson Creek RCMP released information saying they wanted to locate and speak with the driver of a white B-train International ProStar semi.
