SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service is investigating a series of suspicious fires, two of which happened in the same place almost four hours apart.

Four separate fires consecutively took place on Thursday, Sept. 14, in the Stonebridge area — Clarence Avenue Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Cope Crescent, and Stonebridge Boulevard — with two of the fires happening minutes apart.

The Saskatoon police are asking for public help to investigate the suspicious fires. Anyone with information or other evidence related to the four separate fires can call SPS at 306-975-8300.

The first 911 call was received at 2:57 a.m. with the caller reporting a fire in the 100 block of Stonebridge Boulevard. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, a ladder truck, and the Battalion Chief were dispatched.

The first arriving crew saw multiple gas pumps and the canopy over the pumps to be on fire and immediately worked to contain the blaze. Firefighters quickly controlled the fire and later used the ladder truck to ensure the canopy was fully extinguished.

The scene was turned over to the fire investigator, who deemed the fire suspicious and estimated $40,000 in property damage. The SFD fire investigator was also informed of two other small fires due to the times between both incidents.

The second fire investigated was in the 3000 block of Clarence Avenue Â鶹ÊÓƵ at 3:51 a.m. in a metal bin that contained discarded material. The third fire happened eight minutes later in the 100 block of Cope Crescent in a small waste disposal bin. Both were deemed suspicious.

Firefighters again responded to the same area in Clarence Avenue Â鶹ÊÓƵ after a caller reported an extinguished fire at 7:22 a.m. Fire crews responded to a different address in the 3000 block where they found multiple waste disposal bins showing signs of an extinguished fire.
