“We would like to re-mind employers and employees of the minimum wage increase that took effect,” Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said. “This increase reflects the growing economy and will benefit our province’s minimum wage earners.”

The Government of Saskatchewan previously announced the increase to minimum wage in June of this year helping business prepare for the change.

Each year, minimum wage is reviewed using an indexation formula which is based on equal weighting of the change in Consumer Price Index and the Aver-age Hourly Wage for the previous year. Changes are subject to Cabinet approval and are to be announced by June 30 each year.

These changes would take effect October 1 of the same year. There are approximately 23,800 minimum wage earners in Saskatchewan’s workforce who will benefit from the minimum wage increase.
