      The Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack now has access to a much-newer Zamboni ice re-surfacer thanks to a donation from Richardson Pioneer.
           Jack Blahut, area marketing representative for Richardson Pioneer, presented a cheque of $25,000 from the company’s foundation to the Town of Kamsack on October 13 to help pay for the machine which arrived in the community in mid-September.
           A 2007 model, the Zamboni has worked for only 2,700 hours, and replaces a 1990-model Zamboni.
           The Zamboni cost a total of $30,000, said Kev Sumner, Kamsack’s recreation director. Its previous owner was the City of Regina.
           Kamsack’s old Zamboni is for sale through Fermarc, a Regina company that is known to be a Zamboni specialist.
           Councillor Mark Foster, who as a rink caretaker operates the Zamboni, said that among the new machine’s attributes are a tire wash system, a pre-wash system that cleans the dirt and debris in front of the blade, and the fact that its switches are all automatic.
