聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Jasmine Knihniski discovered a wonderful opportunity that will see her traveling overseas to Tanzania, Africa for a 20-day volunteer service program.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 am excited to participate in a 20-day community service program in Tanzania this summer,鈥 said Knihniski. 鈥淲hile in Tanzania I will be helping to build a聽 school, teach children and help to make clean water more accessible for the community through an organization called Me to We.
鈥 I will also learning to speak Swahili, spending time with the Maasai warriors and exploring the safari.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Me to We mission is to operate programs around the world, which offer educational, service and leadership development and global citizenship, said information regarding the organization.Me to Weis a for-profit ,founded in 2008 by Canadian brothers and , that provides socially responsible products and services and donates half of its net profits to non-profit partner .
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭his program will give me the opportunity to experience another culture first-hand, to learn about the important issues in the other parts of the world and to become a more globally-aware person,鈥 Knihniski said. 鈥淒ue to the high cost of international travel, I am reaching out to the community to help sponsor me on this life-changing journey.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knihniski was encouraged and inspired by the book Alexander of Africa to reach out and volunteer in a Third World country. She will be leaving July 30 and traveling to Toronto to meet her group that will be participating in the journey.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 am excited to meet new people and set out on this new adventure,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here is a lot of planning that needs to be done and I am required to bring numerous articles.
鈥淭he biggest fear I have is contracting a disease through mosquitoes. We have all been immunized and we will also have a medical staff traveling with us but there is still the possibility of contracting something.鈥澛
