Preeceville residents pause to remember the fallen

Residents from across the area paused on November 11 to remember the fallen soldiers and other war veterans. The annual Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day service at the Preeceville Legion Hall was led by Jim Ward, Preeceville Legion member.

The annual Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day service at the Preeceville Legion Hall was led by Jim Ward, Preeceville Legion member.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "Our Remembrance Day service happens but once a year on November 11," said Ward.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽"Many of us, however, remember this each day of our lives,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he number of Legion members is declining each and every year. We are here to remember our fallen comrades that gave their lives in all the wars of the world. Also we remember the many comrades who have since past away.

鈥淢any of these people gave up their lives in the First and Second World Wars to give us the freedom that we have today. Since then, Canadians have fought other wars and many have given the supreme sacrifice of dying for our country so that we may have and enjoy the freedom we have today," said Ward.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ward also recited a letter from Premier Brad Wall.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Good Spirit School Division band accompanied the audience with O Canada, and the hymns Holy, Holy and Holy and Abide with Me.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Pastor Brad Steppan of the Endeavour Fellowship Chapel gave the call to worship and scripture reading, Ezekiel 37:1-14.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jim Ward recited the names of the fallen soldiers from the area.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Rev. Barb Forsyth of the St. James Anglican Church recited John 15:9-17.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Pastor Hein Bertram gave the sermon.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Rev. Miles Russell of the Trinity Unity Church recited a prayer, The Lord's Prayer and the Benediction.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Wreaths were laid on behalf of numerous individuals, business and organizations. They included: Capt. Troy Rogowski, federal government and cadets; Leon Sill, provincial government and First World War veterans; Mary Petrowski, motherhood and Preeceville Lions Hostel; Dan Rogowski, fatherhood; Larry Larrivee, the Legion and the Second World War veterans; Bill Lesko, Korean War veterans; cadet Eric Prestie, Town of Preeceville; cadet Keannu Albarracin, RM of Preeceville; Ron Neitling, Knights of Columbus; cadet Braden McLean, Credit Union; cadet Zanthany Olson, T.D Bank; Cadet Janhia Irlandez,聽 Paul鈥檚 Drugs; cadet Audrey Vargas, Peet Law Firm; cadet Roberta Kaytor, Lions Hostel; cadet Tessa Rehaluk, Preeceville Medical Clinic; cadet Reagan Dobson, Preeceville Agencies; cadet Christian Acosta, Home Hardware; cadet Lexluv Acosta, Gateway Co-op; cadet Sean Paligan, Maple Farm Equipment; cadet Damon Kinneard, Country Lane Florists; cadet Almina Kovcic, Pioneer Hotel; Arlene Lingl, Catholic Women's League; cadet Zachary Larson, Lions Club; Maureen Johnson. 聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The service concluded with God Save the Queen and the retirement of the Colour Party by the 606 Harvard Air cadet squadron.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A wreath was also laid at the outside cenotaph outside the Legion Hall and at the Town of Preeceville administration building.
