The Preeceville and District Health Action Committee has been formed within our community for the permanent and ongoing needs for Doctor recruitment and retention.       Â
"We will have two doctors coming in October that we are looking forward to working with and having in our community," said Strykowski. "We are seriously looking into hiring a doctor recruitment agency. Although the service may seem pricey, we will be getting a doctor tailored to our communities needs and will have him or her guaranteed for as long as our contract with them states. This is the way of the future. Go find the right doctors who will stay instead of settling for the ones we are given. Our number one priority is opening our emergency room 24/7 and getting back all 10 acute beds.
"Once we establish proper physician coverage, the rest will easily fall into place. We look forward to the transformation change the government has promised and are ready and willing to work with the new health minister and quite possibly a new heath region," said Strykowski.
"We have recognized this is an issue we must all work together at to achieve, said Stacey Strykowski. "We have been told by our health region and government that Doctor recruitment and retention is difficult in our area. This task force will work together with our region to ensure we are able to find the doctors we need and provide the incentives to get them here and keep them here. We are following in the footsteps of other communities near us that had to do this very thing: Kelvington, Wadena and Kamsack," she said.
Please do not confuse this committee with the group of council delegates. The delegates or "focus group" are acting as a liaison between our action committee and the health region and government as well as a liaison between our action committee and the RM and town councils themselves. Although we all have one goal in mind, please know this action group can concentrate their entire efforts on this task only, rather than all the issues brought forth to our local government officials.
