The Preeceville Atom Pats Atoms won the A banner in front of a packed home-town crowd on March 22.

            Members of the team were: Brady Kashuba, Isaiah Maier, Zachary Sorgen Hudsyn Nelson, Zander Purdy, Isaac Kashuba, Nathan Newbery, Kimmuel Albarracin of Preeceville, Kaiden Masley, Skylar Ryczak Mason Babiuk, Tate Bayer, Chaz Jaeb and Nathan Anaka of Sturgis and Aron Cudal of Invermay.

            Coaching staff included: Derek Ryczak of Sturgis, (assistant coach), Dwight Sorgen of Preeceville (assistant coach), Jason Anaka of Sturgis (trainer) and Wes Jaeb of Sturgis.

            The first of the two games against the Whitewood Elks was played in Whitewood on March 16. In the first period, Kaiden Masley scored three times for the Pats to take a 3-1 lead. Masley was unassisted for two goals and assisted by Nathan Anaka for one.

            The second period had Zachary Sorgen scoring the only goal for which he was assisted by Aron Cudal for a 4-1 lead going into the third period. Chaz Jaeb finished the race with a final goal that propelled his team to a 5-3 win. He was assisted by Isaiah Maier and Skyler Ryczak,

            The second and determining game was played in Preeceville on March 22. Kaiden Masley scored the first goal, assisted by Brady Kashuba and Zachary Sorgen for a 1-0 lead.

            The second period had Masley and Brady Kashuba each put one between the posts for a 3-2 lead. Assists were made by Isaiah Maier, Nathan Anaka and Kaiden Masley.

            The third period saw the Pats score another three goals for a final score of 6-3. Kaiden Masley scored one goal assisted by Nathan Anaka. Chaz Jaeb scored on an assist by Nathan Newbery and Brady Kashuba scored the final goal on an assist from Nathan Anaka.

            The win ensured the Pats would be crowned the A-side champions. Kent Seerey, representing the Major Hockey League, presented the A banner to Isaac Kashuba, who accepted it on behalf of the Pats.
