聽 聽 聽The board and staff of the Preeceville and District Heritage Museum are thanking the residents of Preeceville and area who generously supported the museum during the past season.
聽 聽 聽 "We had excellent support for our 1950s evening, our chili-and-clay-oven bread day and our two tables at the recent culture day event," said Agnes Murrin, museum board president. "We fired up the clay oven three times this past year and everyone around the town office could smell the bread cooking.
聽 聽 聽鈥淲e enjoyed celebrating the Year of the Ukrainian throughout our season,鈥 Murrin said. 鈥淲e had numerous visitors from as far away as Denmark.
聽 聽 聽鈥淲e received numerous comments about the cleanliness and ease of access of the museum as well as on the display our many artifacts.鈥
聽 聽 聽The exterior of the museum got a new coat of paint this year and is ready for the celebration in 2017, when the museum will be entering a float in the parade in August, she said.
聽 聽 聽"We continue to produce copies for sale of the Preeceville History Book Lines of the Past,鈥 she said. Some interesting donations this year included an automatic knitter, wedding dresses from different eras, a Rupchan pottery piece, a grub hoe, women鈥檚 hats, some medical supplies and some additional showcases.
聽 聽 聽鈥淲e are always looking to enhance our collection so think of the museum when you have to sort through items to downsize or children are sorting through an estate,鈥 she said.
聽 聽 聽鈥淭his year we acquired a working piano, a larger fridge and a walker for use by some of our older visitors. We have a lot of corridors and rooms so the walker was useful for some.鈥

聽 聽 聽Murrin said that the board is in need of new members, so if anyone with an interest in the museum wishes to contribute, he or she may contact herself or John Carlson.
