The Prairie Women on Snowmobiles stopped briefly in Preeceville along their journey on February 1.

It was the second day of their journey and the group travelled through Naicam, Archerwill, Kelvington and Invermay and ended in Preeceville. The third day had the group continuing their journey from Preeceville to Norquay, Canora, Good Spirit, and Yorkton.

The Roughrider Snowmobile Club was responsible for escorting the group into and out of Preeceville. Angela Scheller and Jason Feeley escorted the women into Preeceville from Invermay and the next day Jamie Lario and Scott Shuba led the group  out of Preeceville as they continued their journey to Norquay.

The club also sponsored the supper at Chris's Place in Preeceville. Maple Farm Equipment housed the snowmobiles overnight.

Prairie Women on Snowmobiles is a non-profit organization whose annual missions are provincial awareness events that are designed to focus attention on breast cancer and the recreation of snowmobiling as well as raise the much-needed funds for breast cancer research. Prairie Women on Snowmobiles has contributed 100 per cent of the funds raised in the past 15 missions for research raising more than $2.3 million to date.

Each mission consists of a group of 10 volunteer snowmobilers who travel across Saskatchewan, passing through many cities and towns in eight days and covering approximately 1,800 kms. Volunteerism is the whole picture of PWOS women dedicating their time, resources, and sleds to help make the missions so successful.

Prairie Women on Snowmobiles was formed when two friends, one a breast cancer survivor, decided to snowmobile across Saskatchewan to raise funds for breast cancer research. Together the two planned, organized and implemented PWOS. The goal since conception is to have this mission go across Saskatchewan each and every year to raise the funding for breast cancer research.
