The Sturgis Kinsmen club annual duck derby was another huge success with all 746 plastic ducks sold. The derby was held at the Sturgis Regional Park on June 4 with numerous families enjoying the afternoon of fun and friendship.

"The family day has continued the tradition of families gathering together for a fun day,” said Tyler Blender, duck derby chairman. It also represents a fun way to raise funds for local charities.

Funds from the event were allotted towards the Sturgis Community Council for playground equipment for the Sturgis Composite High School.

Children had the opportunity to play on two inflatable bouncy castles while their parents enjoyed hamburgers and refreshments.

Kinsmen members who helped transport and dump the ducks over the bridge were Ron Wagar, Eugene Boychuk, Brad Cameron and Chris Walker. Catching the ducks as they crossed the finish line were Tyler Blender, Craig Folk, Daniel Wasylenchuk and Eugene Boychuk.

Janet Cameron won first place, Rose Pozniuk placed second, Jaxton Keller placed third and June Orystak won fourth place.
