Saltcoats Museum needs roofing! Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast will be hosted at Laketown Leaders Stirling Room on Monday, Sept. 5, 8:00a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The cost is $5.00 a person with family rate of $20.00 (Advance Notice for Thanksgiving Weekend - Museum running another Pancake Breakfast October 10).
Kendra and Mitchell McCallum from Weyburn, SK came to visit their grandparents, Phyllis and Jim McCallum - Stacy and Lori and Grant and Kim and families. Mitchell will be attending his second year studying Engineering at U of S, Saskatoon, SK. Kendra will be going to U of A in Edmonton to get her Masters in Education in Psychology.
Stacy and Lori just returned from Kelowna, BC where they took their son Brandon to U.B.C., Okanagon, BC where he will begin his first year in University.
Laketown Leaders monthly Bingo is Thurs., Aug. 25, beginning at 1:30 p.m. This is a fun friendly afternoon and not intended to be like professionals.
The charge is $0.25 a card and $0.25 a game with share the wealth prizes.
The monthly Birthday Cake is served at 3:00 p.m. August 29 (last Monday of every month) at the Stirling Room. Anyone (all sizes, gender and ages are welcome - it's your day).
Regular Meeting of Laketown Leaders is Thurs., Sept. 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stirling Room. New members are always welcome. Memberships are $8.00.
The August 20 Ryan Neal Memorial Slowpitch Ball Tournament was held with five teams registered. This event raised funds for the upkeep of the ball diamonds at Saltcoats Regional Park. There was a Regional Park Ticket Raffle and the winners are: taking home the Pictures, Ron Risling and Sharla Wolfram; the Signed Jersey was Delores Torrie.
Saltcoats United Church will hold a Joint Service on Sun., Aug. 28, at 10:00 a.m. with potluck lunch to follow. September 4 services begin again at 11:30 a.m.
Friends and relatives gather from every direction at Val Trowell's 89th plus birthday party on July 23, 2011, at Saltcoats and District Community Hall.

(Rusty) Kerr, of Victoria and his daughter Val Kirkham also of Victoria; Doug and Corinne Trowell of Heward with her grandchildren MacKenzie and Drew from Ontario; Doug's daughters Kym (of Calgary) and Stacey (of Prince George) Trowell; Bronwen and George Joyes and daugher Shannon (all of Edmonton) and Kaylea and Pil with Elenior and Telyn (all of Boston); children of Gerri and Ron Knudsen attending were:
Erin and Dave Dalley with Valerie (another Val) and Matthew of Surrey, BC as well as Brock and Hillary with Ellica of Regina; Glen and Betty Trowell of Saskatoon and daughter Kristina and Todd Kinitski with Kingston and Jonah (all of Saskatoon) and son Derek and Jen were there from Vancouver; locals Verne and Bonnie Trowell, Chelsea and Jerrett, their son Lane and Monique of Spiritwood, and their son Dylan also of Saltcoats; Mark and Scott were there as well from Vancouver. There was a troop of Bill Trowell's family - Tammy and Mike, Willie and Debbie and their children Rebecca and Megan, Lori and Tom all of Manitoba; the Marion Benjamin Crew - Evelyn, Beth, Deb, and Gwen's presence was welcomed.
A comment was overheard "There I have done my duty, another generation now knows how to dance the Conga Line (Bunny Hop), Butterfly and Bird Dance".
All friends, neighbors and attendees declared a good time was had by all.
Saltcoats Anglican Church will have no service on Sunday at Saltcoats, Sunday, Sept. 28, as there will be service at 3:00 p.m. at Llewelyn Anglican Church followed by cold plate picnic lunch at the school after.
