A new paintball course appears likely for the city, but it will not be open to the general public.
The Yorkton Community Centre approached the City regarding property for an outdoor paintball course area, Michael Eger, Director of Planning, Building & Development told the regular meeting of Council Monday. The group had identified a parcel of land North-East of Roundhouse Subdivision and is owned by the City of Yorkton.
Yorkton Community Centre is a non-profit organization aiming to connect with youth.
鈥淵orkton Community Centre has provided information on how the paintball activity would work, the type of equipment that will be used, the distance in which paintballs will fly, etc,鈥 Eger told Council.
鈥淎fter reviewing this information, we are confident that this activity will not pose a problem for passing trains, adjacent businesses, or highway traffic.
鈥淭he types of paintballs that will be used are biodegradable and will not pose an environmental issue.鈥
In proposing the City enter into a lease for the property Eger noted Key terms of the land use lease agreement, which will absolve the City of liability.
