Olson rink wins annual Stenen Open Bonspiel

The Tim Olson rink of Preeceville, with Jess Olson (third), Ralph Ager (second) and Denise Olson (lead), won the annual Stenen Open Bonspiel which ran from January 31 to February 7. There were 16 rinks registered for the bonspiel.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Olson team beat the Rick Pawliw rink of Norquay in the final game. Curling with Pawliw were: Jeremy Lenych, Michael Andrushko and Trent Antoniuk.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Brad Knutson rink of Norquay, with: Pat Ferris (third), Vi Knutson (second) and Sandy Ferris (lead), won the second event. The team defeated the Bob Lebo of Preeceville with Dale Zubko, Nick Bodnar and Roy Fairburn.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Merv Secundiak rink of Sturgis, with Eugene Boychuk (third), Rob Wilcott (second) and Terry Mang (lead), won the third event. The Secondiak rink defeated the Ken Bazansky rink of Sturgis with Perry Keller, Garrett Baziuk and Carla Keller.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The bonspiel banquet was held on February 5.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t was a fun evening which started with a wonderful roast beef supper which included perogies, cabbage rolls, potatoes, gravy, various types of salads and wonderful desserts,鈥 said Brenda Lisoway on behalf of the organizers. 鈥淎fter the meal, the attendees were entertained by the annual Stenen bonspiel auction.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he community of Stenen pulled together to once again put on a fantastic event,鈥 she said.
