The Norquay School senior drama club returned from the Saskatchewan Drama Association’s Region 4 Drama Festival held at the Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton March 18 and 19 clutching many awards.
           The club’s performance of Superheroes by Ian McWethy received the runner-up award for Best Visual Production, said Barry Chorneyko, the teacher-director.
           Sheldon Newberg was presented with a plaque for the festival’s Most Promising Performance for his role as Hawkeye; Elena Gustafson received an acting plaque for her roles as Storm and Yorma; Ashley Barabonoff was presented with an acting plaque for her roles as Mia and Ventnor, and Calum Livingstone received an acting plaque for his roles as Batman and Orin.
           The club was presented with two plaques of merit for excellence in technical theatre: Anna Howard for a PowerPoint projection, and Landon Rayner, for sound.
           The group also won three certificates of merit for technical theatre: Cody Heskin for lightning, and Anna Howard and Taylor Romanyshyn for set design.
           Anna Howard also won one of nine "Spirit of the Festival" medals.
           The club will be performing Superheroes at its 15th annual Dessert Theatre on April 7 at the Norquay School Gym.
