Mud flew in the second annual mud bogs held in Lintlaw on the July long weekend. Organizers announced that it was another fun successful weekend.
"The weekend went great with all the support from the local and surrounding community," said Bryce Murray. "We had a great team of volunteers that helped us pull the weekend together."
The weekend kicked off on July 1 with five entries in the quad pulls. Each entry had the opportunity to show how strong his or her quad was with pulling a weight sled. There were no winners as the weight sled broke after one run and all participants donated monies back to the association. The evening concluded with a wing night, entertainment and fireworks.
The Lintlaw Fire department sponsored a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning followed by a parade with 30 entries. The fun got started with the mud bogs in the early afternoon. There was a all-terrain vehicle (ATV) category with four participants.
The truck mud bogs had four classes: truck super mod, truck super stock, truck mod and truck street legal. The fire department was also responsible for hauling water for the mud pits and washing mud from truck windshields.
In the 701 to 999 category, Elby Kellar of Tisdale won first place with his 800 Renegade. Devin Maaas of Kelvington placed second with his CanAm 850. Matthew Davis of Lintlaw placed third with his CanAm 800. Colton Peacock of Saskatoon was the only entry in the 1,000-and-over category.
A live band with music by Garrett Wuud and the Naughty Bushman supplied the entertainment for the evening.
Four teams were entered in the slo-pitch tournament on July 3. The four teams featured players from Lintlaw, Invermay, Margo and area. The Lintlaw team won first place with team members Matthew Davis, Scott Semko, Pat Scheller, Shelby Wallin, Kyle Last, Emily Last, Lynn Last, Shania Last, Lane Gibb, Skylar Wallin, Ryan Last, Marty Rioch, Kayla Scheller, Chantelle Rioch, Scott Schulrz, Lynn Verbeek, Shania Wallin, Chantelle Parsens and Kristen Rioch.
Other teams entered included Balls and Babes, the Family Guys, and the Backdoors Sliders.
Jason Welder was the winner of the 1975 Ford half-ton truck raffled during the event.
All proceeds were allotted towards the upkeep of the sports grounds including new ball diamonds and regular maintenance.
