SASKATOON – A 35-year-old Saskatoon man who was shot following a confrontation with police is seeking bail.
Ronald Ken Herman has a show cause hearing set for March 10 in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
Saskatoon Police arrested Herman following an incident on Feb. 23. Police say that at approximately 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 23 they received a report of an armed man going to a residence in the 200 block of Avenue L Â鶹ÊÓƵ. The caller told police that a physical altercation took place at the door before Herman allegedly fled on foot armed with a handgun and a machete.
Responding officers located Herman and a confrontation occurred, which resulted in police firing several shots. Herman received a non-life-threatening wound and was taken to hospital. The Saskatoon Police immediately requested the Regina Police Service lead the investigation. The province will also be assigning two independent investigative observers, pursuant to the Saskatchewan Police Act.
Herman was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, and breach of probation.
The charges against Herman haven’t been proven in court.
