Local snowmobiling recognized at Council

The Yorkton Sno-Riders Club appeared before the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday to share some positive news about local trails.

Club president Jason Popowich told Council the readers of SnoRiders West magazine have cast their votes for the 17th annual SnoRiders Riders Choice Awards.

These annual awards are based on surveys that ran in last season鈥檚 SnoRiders magazine.

And a number of top awards came to the local club and snowmobile area, said Popowich.

The awards included:

鈥 Favourite Overall Snowmobiling Area in Saskatchewan -Gold - Yorkton

鈥 Favourite Groomed Trail in Saskatchewan - Gold - Yorkton

鈥 Favourite Powder Riding in Saskatchewan - Silver - Yorkton

鈥 Favourite Scenic Snowmobile Area in Saskatchewan - Gold - Yorkton

鈥 Favourite for Family Snowmobiling in Saskatchewan - Gold 鈥 Yorkton

鈥 Area You Would Most Like to Ride in the Future - Gold - Yorkton

In addition several area businesses also earned recognition includeing;

鈥淪nowmobiling in Yorkton and Saskatchewan provides family based recreation opportunities, resulting in tourism generated expenditures, including: accommodation, restaurant, attractions, fuel, retail and repair,鈥 detailed a letter sent to Council.

The Sno-riders Club was formed in 1990 by a group of snowmobiling enthusiasts, and have developed and maintain over 400 kilometers of groomed trails.
