PREECEVILLE - Ketchen Lake Bible Camp looking forward to welcoming campers back for another season of camping and fellowship.

The Camp will be running both overnight and day camps. The overnight camps are available for campers from July 8-12 for teen camp, Intermediate camp from July 15 to 19, and July 22 to 26 for squirt camp,

“Space is limited," said Elaine Brewer, Camp Director, adding that some new camp categories offered this year include a family camp on July 27 to 28 with a family day held on July 1. “The family fun day encourages everyone to come out to have some fun games and activities with the campers,” said Brewer.

“We are running our full summer with an added week of Day Camp. Through the last two years we realized there was a need for Day Camp and we didn’t want to lose the kids who wanted that experience and maybe weren’t ready for overnight camps, so we kept in one week of Day Camp and we do allow six-year-olds to come. This is the only camp they could attend so they are very excited about getting to go to camp!”

Another popular theme is a Camp Camo week set to run from July 30 to Aug. 3 “So many of our summer camps are hunters or come from homes where hunting is a big part of their way of life. At camp we seek to offer programs that meet the needs in our surrounding communities. Camp Camo is an opportunity to provide both useful and vital skills to all the campers. We eat meals prepared on the open fire, sleep in tents, make survival tools and enjoy skill instructions and a great competition,” said Brewer.

The sports camp will be held from Aug. 12 to 16 and is open to campers from six to 12 years of age. It is an opportunity to minister churched and non-churched youth that might not be already attended camp and introduces them to Biblical teachings that that they can apply to their own lives. The camp helps develop skills in several sports, encourage good sportsmanship, encourage a healthy lifestyle, teaches campers to play with integrity and have fun at the same time. It is open to children aged 10 to 18.

The final camp of the season is a 24/7 Camp held from Aug. 20 to 25 and  is open to 10-18-year-old teens and designated for teens who want to grow deeper in their walk with Christ.

The camp will also be hosting a day camp from Aug. 5 to 9.

"This is an exciting time for campers and volunteers," said Brewer. "We are still very cautious and will continue to practice safety procedures with hand sanitation and cleaning, which is made a little easier this year with a fog cleaner system. The camp purchased one through fundraising efforts.”

“The camp is desperately seeking cooks for the summer,” added Brewer. She encourages anyone who is interested to call her anytime.

"We are looking forward to a great season with camp activities in full swing for the summer. The camp purchased six all-terrain peddle go-carts. These go-carts are super fun and offer another fun activity for campers this year. Remote cars are also available for the campers use.”

Online registration is available for new campers.

"Excitement is building and everyone is looking forward to camp at KLBC this summer," concluded Brewer.

Plans for the camp this year include the possibilities of building two more new buildings to be used for cabins, upgrading the playground station, and hosting a barbecue fundraiser.

The camp will also be offering swimming lessons to intermediate and squirt levels this year. The camp’s annual promotional supper and silent auction will be held April 6. The supper is open to the public.

The camp was founded in 1941 and its mission is to help families, especially those with youth and children, by leading them in a week or a day of fellowship in a Christian setting.
