YORKTON - Always wanted to wear your favourite sports jersey to work, but weren’t sure you should?
Well Wednesday, May 25 you can do it for a good cause, as it is ‘Jersey Day for Kidsport’.
Kidsport Month in Saskatchewan is celebrated in May, and now locally they are asking business to support their efforts by encouraging staff, or in the case of schools their students, to wear their favourite jersey for a donation of $2.
Doug Jonassen, local spokesperson for Kidsport said the organization hasn’t had a committee in place for some time, but they have reorganized and hope the jersey project will be a good fundraiser as they rejuvenate the program.
Jonassen said he has sent out notices to local schools and businesses encouraging participation, and the response has been positive.
“Some of the businesses are even talking about matching what the employees give,” he said.
Businesses need only collect the $2 from employees wearing jerseys and then drop off the money at Re/Max Blue Chip Realty in Yorkton.
Donations to Kidsport support the charity which helps the children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in sports.
