Freeland visits Ukrainian donation facility in Saskatoon

Twin comforters, new pillows and small kitchen appliances are some of the items needed at Baba's Closet.

SASKATOON - Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland was in Saskatoon on Wednesday, Aug. 24, to donate some items at Baba's Closet and to check on the facility that helps Ukrainians displaced by Russia's invasion.

Nettie Cherniatenski is the coordinator of Baba's Closet where donated items like small kitchen appliances, clothes and toys for the kids are distributed to Ukrainian refugees that just arrived in Saskatoon.

Freeland's mother is from Ukraine and she speaks fluent Ukrainian aside from English, French, Italian and Russian.
