Five year old pedestrian struck by truck in Saskatoon

A 31-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.

SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested and charged the driver of a truck that struck a five-year old boy Saturday evening.

The 31-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and exceeding the legal alcohol limit causing bodily harm. 

On June 11 at approximately 7:20 p.m., a truck travelling westbound on 21st Street West struck a five-year-old boy between Avenue K and Avenue L Â鶹ÊÓƵ. The collision resulted in injuries to the child who was transported by ambulance to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries. He is expected to recover.

While patrol and the collision analyst unit were on the scene investigating, traffic restrictions were in place and motorists and pedestrians were being asked to avoid the area.

The scene has been cleared and police issued a release at 1:22 a.m. Sunday morning that it had re-opened to traffic.
